As the technology and features race ahead involving social networking sites more non-native speakers of English are signing up to get on the bandwagon.  Time spent involved in pursuits involving their own native languages dwindle in time and content.

Are Social Networking Websites Contributing to the extinction of some languages?

Like signs that are not paid attention to, language can wether away as well.
For people whose first language is not English.  Consider that for every minute children spend surfing the Internet in the English language they are not engaged in their own native language.  Time not spent engaged in their own language can help contribute to the demise of that language.  This is especially true of languages that do not have their own voice on the Internet.

Like signs that are not cared for, language too can whether away.
This problem can have early roots wherein children are at first mesmorized by online kids' video games.  Most games have some English language however, that does not matter for the most part.  What is important is the visuals of heros in action slaying the enemy.

What English language is that appears on some of these game sites is enough to help create an interest in learning more so that more features of the online game, or games, can be mastered.  The more elements of the game that can be learned, or mastered, the more exciting the game can be to play.

Walk into almost any Internet cafe in countries outside of the United States and Great Britain and you will see kids playing video games designed by western online game architects.  A great many of these game sites feature advertisements, in English.  "What's that mean?" asks one student to another who speaks a little English. "Oh, that advertisement says there are more free game sites here, just click."

And so another young non-native speaker begins to realize the importance of learning English with a click of the mouse.
